I love drooping poppy buds almost as much as their flowers. When they bloom, papery poppies sit atop long stems, their flowers yielding to unique seed heads that are as awesome as the flowers themselves. They're magnificent at every stage.
The Breadseed Rattle poppies are a mix of lavendery pink and white, usually on the same flower. Their flowers are beautiful, like all poppies, but their true uniqueness is revealed after their petals fall, leaving large bulbous seed pods that can be left on the plant, used in flower arrangements, or dried.
Poppies do best in cooler weather, and can succumb to our intense summer heat but give quite the show before they do!
